Buddhist Triad votive tablet stamp, Bronze
Ca. 12-13th Century
Height:
7,8 cm
This bronze stamp was used to produce fired
terracotta votive tablets.
A Mahayana Buddhist
Trinity is composed of a Buddha seated on the coils
of the serpent, Muchalinda, and protected by the
seven hoods. The figures stand on a base with the
meditating Buddha at the center. To his right stands
Lokeshvara, one of the names for the compassionate
Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara. To his left is
Prajnaparmita, Goddess of Transcendent Wisdom.
