Wood figure of Buddha

19th Century

Height: 13,5  cm
 

Seated in virasana on a lotus base,  his right hand lowered in bhumisparshamudra. The left resting on his lab, wearing samghati, his face in meditative expression, arched eyebrows above incised eyes, smiling lips, plain hair dress and usnisha. The lower level of the base consists of two kissing fish. Beautiful patina with black lacquer and gilding. The time took away part of the head.
